Peguero Rivera [email protected] 305-471-1900 Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Occupant Safety Enforcement From August 25, 2025, through September 14, 2025, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Motorcycle Units will be conducting specialized high visibility enforcement to address vehicle safety belt usage violations. Unrestrained occupants in vehicles are a serious problem in Miami-Dade County. According to the Florida Department of Transportation 2025 Highway Safety Matrix, Miami-Dade County ranked second for occupant protection related serious injuries and fatalities out of 26 Counties with populations of 200,001 and above. From August 25, 2025, through September 14, 2025, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Motorcycle Units will be conducting specialized high visibility enforcement to address vehicle safety belt usage violations.  Unrestrained occupants in vehicles are a serious problem in Miami-Dade County.  According to the Florida Department of Transportation 2025 Highway Safety Matrix, Miami-Dade County ranked second for occupant protection related serious injuries and fatalities out of 26 Counties with populations of 200,001 and above.   Wearing a seatbelt is not optional, it is one of the most effective ways to protect yourself in a vehicle. Failure to comply with seatbelt laws will result in a citation. Buckle up. It’s the law.
