Miami-Dade County partners with USDA to provide meals through the Child and Adult Care Food Program
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is sponsoring the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) in partnership with the Miami-Dade County Community Services Department’s Older Adults & Individuals with Disabilities Services Division. This collaboration ensures that nutritious meals are provided to older adults and individuals with disabilities across Miami-Dade County.
“In Miami-Dade, we believe that everyone deserves to feel cared for and supported,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “By partnering with the USDA, we are making sure that our older adults and residents with disabilities not only have access to healthy meals, but also know that their community values their dignity, health, and well-being.”
Meals will be offered at no separate charge to enrolled eligible participants at the Adult Day Care Centers. Meals will be provided to all participants regardless of race, color, national origin, age, disability, sex, gender identity, religion, reprisal, political beliefs, marital or parental status, sexual orientation, or any other protected class under federal law.
Free and Reduced-Price Meal Policy Statement
Participants eligible for free or reduced-price meals must complete an application documenting eligibility. The application requires:
• The number and names of all household members
• The last four digits of the Social Security Number of the head of household, primary wage earner, or the adult signing the application (or an indication if no household member has one)
• Total monthly household income or Food Stamps, SSI, or Medicaid identification number
• The signature of an adult care center participant
“This partnership with the USDA allows us to continue supporting the nutritional needs of Miami-Dade’s older adults and individuals with disabilities,” said Sonia Grice, Assistant Director. “Ensuring access to healthy meals is a vital part of our mission to enhance quality of life and promote dignity for all residents.”
