Miami-Dade Fire Rescue hold its 37th Annual Children’s Fire Safety Festival at Miami

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR), in partnership with the UHealth/Jackson Miami Burn
Center and alongside other fire departments in Miami-Dade, will be hosting its 37th
Annual Children’s Fire Safety Festival from Monday, Oct. 6 through Thursday, Oct.
9 at the Miami Dade College North Campus.
<p>Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR), in partnership with the UHealth/Jackson Miami Burn
Center and alongside other fire departments in Miami-Dade, will be hosting its 37th
Annual Children’s Fire Safety Festival from Monday, Oct. 6 through Thursday,
Oct. 9 at the Miami Dade College North Campus located at 11380 NW 27th Ave, Miami,
FL 33167. Our media partners are invited to attend the Opening Ceremony and Media
Day taking place on Monday, Oct. 6 at 9:30 a.m. Elementary school students, from kindergarten
through second grade, will have the opportunity to engage with various hands-on learning
stations and activities that teach fire and life-saving techniques, including:</p>
<ul>
<li>Stop, Drop & Roll</li>
<li>Fire Prevention within the Home</li>
<li>Kitchen and Bathroom Safety</li>
<li>911 Simulation Station</li>

<p class="MsoNormal">We protect people, property and the environment by providing
proactive responsive professional and humanitarian fire rescue services essential
to public health, safety and well-being.</p>

<p>We have 71 fire-rescue stations within unincorporated Miami-Dade County and serve
29 municipalities. We have response units dedicated to air rescue service, ocean rescue,
fire and rescue operations, marine, hazardous materials (HazMat), urban search and
rescue (US&R), technical rescue, and venom response.</p>
<p>Our rescue services include aero-medical transport to trauma centers and other
medical facilities. Our air rescue helicopters are also used to perform search and
rescue missions, and firefighting and reconnaissance operations involving large incidents,
such as wildfires and major fires.</p>
<p>We also have full-time and part-time professional lifeguards protecting Haulover
and Crandon beaches.</p>
<p>We support disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation needs. We
operate the County's Emergency Operation Center (EOC) which coordinates emergency
response and recovery plans, decisions, and operations in order to maximize the use
of resources within Miami-Dade County.</p>
