Co-curated by Liliam Dominguez, Head Curator and Museum and Collections Manager at Deering Estate and Giannina Dwin, this archival selection highlights the Deering Estate’s Artist-in-Residence (AIR) program's commitment to process-based exploration and place-based creation. Marmoris invites viewers to consider how artistic practices preserve, question, and reshape our collective memory by revisiting key works and moments from the residency's legacy. This exhibition is part of the Deering Estate AT program, a partnership that brings Deering Estate Artists-in-Residence to new audiences by showcasing their work in dynamic, collaborative venues beyond the Estate.

          The Exhibition
"Marmoris" from the Latin word for marble, evokes both the classical weight of artistic legacy and the enduring textures of time and transformation. Each work bears traces of its surroundings: the shifting light of Biscayne Bay, the resonance of native oolitic limestone, the presence of historic structures, and the layered narratives embedded in South Florida's subtropical terrain.

Participating artists are John William Bailly, Jennifer Basile, Andres Cabrera-Garcia, Lissette Schaeffler, Elaine Defibaugh, Tony Fernandez, Becky Franco, Regina Jestrow, Gustavo Matamoros, Freddy Jouwayed, Karen Rifas, Enma Saiz, Gretchen Scharnagl, Barron Sherer, and Charles Humes, Jr.
