Miami-Dade Public Library System celebrates the grand opening of No Limits Coffee Shop at Westchester Regional Library
On Monday, November 3, the Miami-Dade Public Library System (Library) celebrated the grand opening of the No Limits Coffee Shop at the Westchester Regional Library with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring representatives from the Office of Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Chairman of the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners Anthony Rodriguez and No Limits Coffee Shop founder Khia Lopez.
The coffee stand, operated by students from Great Heights Academy — a local school serving neurodiverse students — provides meaningful work experience for young adults with special needs and autism while offering library visitors a selection of delicious beverages and snacks.
“The No Limits Coffee Shop is a wonderful example of how we can make our public spaces more inclusive and inspiring,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “By partnering with Great Heights Academy, we’re helping students develop valuable skills and independence, while enriching the library experience for everyone. This project reflects our County’s commitment to creating opportunities for all residents to learn, grow and succeed.”
The coffee shop invites patrons to “fuel their day” while supporting the local special needs community. The menu includes hot and iced coffees, croquetas, fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies and more.
“This coffee shop is a win for everyone — from students acquiring essential life skills to library patrons savoring great coffee and delicious snacks,” said Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners Chairman Anthony Rodriguez. “I’m incredibly proud that District 10 is home to this remarkable initiative, which not only provides opportunities for those with special needs but also fosters greater independence and self-assurance.”
The coffee shop complements the Library’s mission to serve as a hub for community engagement.
“Libraries are about connection — to knowledge, to opportunity and to one another,” said Miami-Dade Public Library System Director Ray Baker. “The No Limits Coffee Shop embodies that spirit by bringing people together through service and learning. We’re proud to open our second coffee stand in partnership with schools serving students with autism and special needs. Our first, the Sips and Stories Pop-up Coffee Stand, launched at the Kendale Lakes Branch in April 2025 and has been a great success.”
Great Heights Academy and No Limits Coffee Shop Founder Khia Lopez, who helped launch and guide the coffee shop project, shared the school’s enthusiasm for the partnership.
“The opening of our No Limits Coffee Shop at the Westchester Regional Library is more than a new location — it’s a life-changing opportunity for our students and adults with special needs,” said Lopez. “This expansion allows us to provide additional jobs and hands-on training that build independence, confidence, social growth and a sense of purpose. As customers experience the joy and dedication of our neurodiverse team, we hope it inspires greater inclusion and awareness across our community.”
The No Limits Coffee Shop is located in the lobby of the Westchester Regional Library, 9445 Coral Way, Miami, FL 33165, and is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
