Allapattah Branch Library to close for construction beginning December 31
Replacement branch to be built in the new Dulce Vida Apartments affordable and workforce housing development
On Wednesday, December 31, 2025, the Miami-Dade Public Library System Allapattah Branch Library, located at 1799 NW 35 Street in Miami, will close to the public for construction associated with the new Dulce Vida Apartments affordable and workforce housing development. The Coral Rock Development Group project is expected to take approximately 19 months to complete.
A new, state-of-the-art Allapattah Branch Library will be built on the ground floor as part of the development. The replacement branch will feature new amenities and upgrades, including:
• Expanded space: Approximately 8,500 square feet (up from 5,200 square feet)
• Multipurpose community meeting room with audio/visual technology
• Co-working and study spaces
• Main and Young Adult Reading Rooms and Children’s Room with a dedicated storytime area
• Energy-efficient LED lighting and impact-resistant windows
• New furniture, shelving and fixtures
• New public computers and high-speed Wi-Fi
• USB charging ports and electrical outlets throughout
• Digital information screens
During the construction period, a temporary Allapattah Branch Library is scheduled to open nearby in March 2026 to continue providing library services to the community. More details about the temporary location will be shared closer to the opening.
