Grinch Buster Initiative
Stats
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office successfully concluded its annual Grinch Busters Initiative, which ran from November 21, 2025, through January 4, 2026, as part of our ongoing efforts to enhance public safety during the busy holiday shopping season.
Grinch Busters is a proactive, high-visibility enforcement initiative designed to deter criminal activity in and around shopping malls, retail centers, and high-traffic commercial areas throughout Miami-Dade County. During the holiday season, when residents and visitors are out shopping, dining, and celebrating, our deputies increase their presence to help prevent thefts, robberies, and other crimes while providing reassurance to the community.
Throughout the duration of the initiative, deputies conducted directed patrols, worked closely with retail partners, and responded swiftly to suspicious activity. As a result, the Grinch Busters Initiative yielded the following outcomes:
- Felony arrests: 98
- Misdemeanor arrests: 63
- Warrant arrests: 24
- Cocaine seized: 124 grams
- Marijuana seized: 181 grams
- Firearms seized: 14
- Citations issued: 135
These results reflect the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office’s continued commitment to proactive policing, crime prevention, and maintaining a safe environment for residents, visitors, and businesses during the holiday season.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office thanks our community members, business owners, and retail partners for their cooperation and support throughout the initiative. We remain dedicated year-round to protecting our community and ensuring everyone can enjoy a safe and secure Miami-Dade County.
