Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces and Nicklaus Children's Hospital present the 16th annual Summer Safety Splash
On Saturday, May 16, 2026, Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department (PROS), in partnership with Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, will present the 16th Annual Summer Safety Splash event.
Coinciding with National Water Safety Month (also known as National Drowning Prevention Month), the event, sponsored by Univision Miami, will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the A.D. (Doug) Barnes Park pool.
One of the largest swim safety events of the year focused on the critical importance of water safety, Summer Safety Splash is free and open to the public. The event offers parents and children ages two and older a variety of water activities, rescue and water safety demonstrations, and take-home resources designed to help teach swimming skills and promote water safety awareness.
Through year-round messaging campaigns and programming, PROS is committed to raising awareness about water safety to help reduce water-related injuries and fatalities. Through the Learn2Swim program, residents of all ages can learn to swim at 12 County parks, with classes focused on building confidence and teaching essential safety skills and tips.
As the leading pediatric hospital in South Florida, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital is committed to keeping children safe through its Safe Kids program and will be onsite to provide education on a variety of summer safety initiatives.
