Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Arrests Caregiver for Exploitation and Theft from Elderly Victims
The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) Organized Crimes Bureau (OCB) detectives have arrested Jacqueline Denise Robinson following an extensive investigation that began when detectives assigned to the Kendall District General Investigations Pawnshop Unit (GIU) notified the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office Elderly and Vulnerable Adults Unit regarding allegations of financial exploitation involving elderly victims.
According to investigators, the subject was employed as a caregiver for elderly victims. The subject abused her position of trust and unlawfully appropriated jewelry belonging to the victims. Detectives determined the subject pawned and sold the victims’ jewelry, valued at approximately $56,500, for her own financial gain. Evidence obtained during the investigation confirmed that the victims never authorized the subject to take, borrow, pawn, or sell the jewelry.
The victims, who are elderly and vulnerable adults requiring daily assistance with personal care and medication management, relied on the subject as a trusted caregiver. Detectives uncovered documentation linking the subject to the sale of the stolen property through local pawn transactions where she falsely claimed ownership of the jewelry.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office remains committed to protecting elderly and vulnerable residents and holding accountable those who exploit positions of trust for personal gain.
