Peguero Rivera [email protected] 305-471-1900 Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Reminds Public of No-Drone Zones During FIFA World Cup Matches The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) reminds residents and visitors that FAA Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) will be strictly enforced during FIFA World Cup matches at Hard Rock Stadium and around the Fan Festival at Bayfront Park. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) reminds residents and visitors that FAA Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) will be strictly enforced during FIFA World Cup matches at Hard Rock Stadium and around the Fan Festival at Bayfront Park. Unauthorized drone operations are prohibited within designated restricted airspace surrounding these venues. Drone operators should check airspace restrictions before flying by using FAA-approved B4UFLY applications or visiting the FAA’s TFR website. The FBI is the lead agency for investigating and enforcing violations involving unauthorized drone activity during FIFA World Cup events. MDSO is working alongside the FBI, FAA, and law enforcement partners to support enforcement efforts. Authorized personnel have the authority to detect, intercept, and seize drones operating in violation of FAA restrictions. Violators may face civil fines of up to $75,000, criminal fines of up to $100,000, up to one year in prison, and seizure of their drone. Anyone who observes suspicious or unauthorized drone activity is encouraged to call 9-1-1 immediately.
