The Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department (MDCR) is committed to ensuring the health and well-being of individuals in our custody, as well as the safety of the staff who supervise them. MDCR currently provides remote video visitation as a standard service, using secure technology to connect friends, family members, and professional visitors with the inmate population. All visitors are required to acknowledge and follow all visitation rules when using this service. Beginning September 23, 2026, MDCR will transition its video visitation platform from ViaPath/GTL to Securus Video Connect. The final day to schedule visits through ViaPath/GTL is September 23, 2026. All video visits already scheduled through September 30, 2026 will remain active. Effective October 1, 2026, Securus Video Connect will become the sole system for video visitation. Custom Inmate Mail All mail must be addressed to the inmate and sent by United States Postal Service. Mail sent by other couriers will not be accepted. Only incoming personal inmate mail written on plain white, originally lined paper such as white, loose-leaf lined notebook paper; white, lined tablet paper; or white, lined legal tablet paper will be permitted. Custom Inmate Phone System Phone Inmates cannot receive calls. Friends and family members can stay in touch with an inmate by setting up a prepaid collect calling service that allows an inmate to call your phone number using deposited funds. You can set up the account online. Deposits can be made securely through the <a href="https://securustech.net/phone-products/securus-debit/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AdvancePay®</a> website, mobile app or phone. You can set the service to send a text alert if the fund balance is getting low or just set the account to auto-reload to automatically replenish your account. If you are receiving unwanted calls from an inmate, you must contact <a href="https://securustech.net/contact-us/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Securus Customer Service</a> directly to block the calls. Custom eMessaging All electronic messages, photos, VideoGrams, and related content sent to an incarcerated individual are subject to monitoring and review by the Department. Any friend, family member, or other sender who transmits content that is inappropriate, disruptive, or in violation of Department policy including, but not limited to, nudity, sexually explicit material, obscene gestures, threatening or disruptive images, coded messages, or any content that compromises the safety, security, or orderly operation of the facility may have their messaging privileges restricted, suspended, or permanently revoked. The Department reserves the right to take such action at its sole discretion and without prior notice. By using the eMessaging system, all senders acknowledge and agree to comply with these requirements.
