Farmworker Employment Training

The Farmworker Career Development Program provides migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their dependents in Miami-Dade County with quality pathways to career educational and vocational trainings to achieve a high-wage in high-growth employment opportunities. Trainees may receive emergency support services to alleviate financial hardships for food, sustainability, transportation and utilities or rental. 

Farmworkers and their dependents can receive vocational and employment training services, including career counseling, job placement and more. Recipients must meet federal poverty guidelines.

Services include:

  • Career assessment, planning and counseling
  • Vocational and academic training
  • Case management
  • Educational financial assistance
  • Job training 
  • Stipend allowance 
  • Transportation
  • Job placement and retention
  • Follow-up

Aside from meeting federal poverty guidelines, trainees must be:

  • U.S. Citizen or eligible Non-Citizen (Resident with working permit)
  • Must be a farmworker or dependent of a farmworker
  • Males born after Dec. 31, 1959 must be registered with Selective Services
  • Qualified youths must be 14 years of age
  • Must meet federal poverty guidelines
  • 50 percent from farm work or 50 percent of time work in farm work during a 12-month certification period

  • Commercial Driver’s License (Class A, B and C)

  • Practical Nurse
  • Pharmacy Technician
  • Culinary Arts
  • Electronic Technology
  • College Courses, as applicable
