Emergency Medical Technician Academy Attendance Scholarship

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Academy will be awarding up to 40 Attendance Scholarships to eligible graduates from a Miami-Dade County public high school.

Candidates who are awarded Attendance Scholarships are given the opportunity to obtain an EMT certificate through Miami Dade College.

The Attendance Scholarship is awarded through a competitive review process. The scholarship is only valid during the academic year for which it is offered. Academy graduates receive job preference in the next Miami-Dade Fire Rescue recruitment process.

- Graduate of a Miami-Dade County public high school
- 18 years of age at the time the EMT program begins
- Minimum of 2.5 overall high school GPA and transcript signed by a counselor
- Submit a 500-1500 word essay addressing the following:
- Three Scholarship recommendation forms.
- Interview with Fire Rescue
- Meet Miami Dade College entrance requirements
- Application and all requirements must be submitted by the deadline date
