Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Scholarship Program

The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Scholarship Program will award up to 40 Scholarships to provide recent high school graduates the opportunity to obtain an EMT certificate through Miami-Dade College (MDC).

The EMT Scholarship is awarded through a competitive review and interview process. The Scholarship is only valid during the academic year for which it is offered. Not all applicants will receive a scholarship.

Applications are accepted between February 1st and April 15th each year.

Eligible Candidates Must:
- Be a Miami-Dade County resident.
- Be at least 18 years of age at the time the EMT program begins.
- Be on track to graduate in June with a High School Diploma.
- Have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
- Have their own transportation.
- Have their own laptop or tablet for every class.

A complete Application Packet consists of the following:
1. Personal Information Form
2. Personal Statement Essay
3. Three Scholarship Recommendations
4. A Mid-Year Transcript
5. CPR certificate (Applicants are not required to be CPR certified)
