Fire Rescue Dispatcher

A Fire Rescue Dispatcher is a valuable link to the public and to first responders who strive to protect and serve our community. They are responsible for timely dispatching fire and rescue personnel to emergency and routine calls from citizens and requiring the operation of two-way radio transmitting equipment in a central communications network.

Multi-tasking, critical thinking, retention, and detailed knowledge of Miami-Dade County’s geography are needed for this position. They must be able to think and communicate clearly in very stressful situations. Shift work for a Fire Rescue Dispatcher is 24/7/365 with three shifts:

  • Day shift: 6:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
  • Evening shift: 2:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
  • Night shift: 10:30 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.

Continuous training and education is required throughout a Fire Rescue Dispatcher’s career to keep them up-to-date on the newest technologies, latest fire suppression, rescue and communication methods.

Fire Rescue Dispatcher Annual Salary Range

Approximately $47,962.53 - $86,092.314 (subject to period change).
