Research and Policy Division
MDEAT's Research and Policy Division serves as the analytical and legislative backbone of the organization, translating data into action and policy into opportunity for Miami-Dade County residents. Our goal is to produce rigorous, community-centered research, advance equitable policies, and deliver transparent reporting that drives meaningful economic progress across the county's targeted urban areas.
Research
The Research team collects, analyzes, and presents data on key economic indicators, housing trends, community conditions, and program outcomes. From producing white papers on household income and government's role in economic mobility, to gathering municipal permit data and supporting feasibility studies; our research equips policymakers, community stakeholders, and the public with the evidence needed to make informed decisions that strengthen Miami-Dade's economic landscape.
Policy
The Policy team monitors local and state legislative developments, tracks ordinances, and develops recommendations that align with MDEAT's mission of economic equity and advocacy. The team engages regularly with commissioners' offices, county attorneys, and community advisory boards to advance policies that create inclusive growth, from drafting formal responses to proposed legislation, to developing internal program eligibility policies and presenting at Board of County Commission meetings.
Scorecard
In partnership with the Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources (RER), MDEAT produces a Scorecard tracking key performance indicators across the Targeted Urban Areas (TUAs). The Scorecard provides a transparent, data-driven view of progress on housing, economic development, and community well-being.
