Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Miami-Dade was at the forefront of the fight against the virus. Through collaboration across departments and community organizations, we were able to achieve successful outcomes including one of the highest vaccination rates in the state and nation, effective and efficient public health decision-making supported by data through the County’s COVID-19 dashboard and a strong public health system.

We are proud to have maintained continuous, free COVID testing and vaccine access for residents longer than many jurisdictions nationwide.

Due to the expiration of the COVID-19 federal public health emergency declaration on May 11, 2023, Miami-Dade has transitioned its pandemic operations from emergency response to public health management.

Miami-Dade remains committed to continuing to invest in the public health infrastructure that we built during the pandemic and remain vigilant against future variants and other possible public health challenges.
