Continuing Education Courses

Individuals applying for recertification to the Miami-Dade County Board of Rules and Appeals must attend BORA approved continuing education classes or seminars for a minimum of 16 hours during the previous calendar year, per Miami-Dade County Code Sec. 8-21.11.

It is the responsibility of the code officials to retain their completion certificates as proof of compliance with the continuing education requirements.

For 2026, the Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources (RER), in cooperation with Miami Dade College, is pleased to present the continuing education program for Board of Rules and Appeals certified personnel. Sixteen (16) hours of training, applicable to everyone, will be provided. Individual four-hour modules covering specific trade will also be presented two times during the four sessions. Six Saturday classes (3 dates virtual and 3 dates in-person) and two weekday classes (1 day virtual and 1 day in-person) have been included. All provided courses are acceptable to satisfy the 16 hours of annual continuing education credits necessary for recertification by the Board of Rules and Appeals.

The first day of each session, the G1 (General 8-hour module) will be provided virtually. The second day of each session, 4-hour trade specific modules (in the morning) or 4-hour trade specific modules (in the afternoon) will be in person at the Miami Dade College Kendall Campus located at 11011 S.W. 104 St., Miami, FL 33176, in Building #2.
