Amateur Photography Contest

Miami-Dade County residents, do you have an eye for photography or enjoy capturing the beauty of Biscayne Bay? Join the Miami-Dade County Department of Environmental Resources Management (DERM) and Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in celebration of Baynanza by capturing photos of Biscayne Bay and its surrounding environment. Each year during the annual tradition of Baynanza, thousands of free printed calendars are distributed community-wide in celebration of the beauty and importance of this unique natural resource to promote environmental events occurring in March and April.

To participate in the photography contest for Baynanza 2026, submit an original photograph that portrays Biscayne Bay and its unique natural environment. This contest is open to all Miami-Dade County residents. The top three winners will receive prizes, with the first place winner being featured in the Baynanza 2026 printed calendar of events.

First Place
- Winning photograph will be utilized to promote Baynanza and will be featured in our calendar of events
- Winning participant will be recognized at Baynanza’s Kickoff event at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and acknowledged at Baynanza’s VIP Site on Saturday, April 11
- Winning participant will receive a Vizcaya family membership and a framed award
Second Place
- Second place participant will be recognized at Baynanza’s Kickoff event on Saturday, April 11 and will receive a Vizcaya family membership and a framed award
Third Place
- Third-place participant will be recognized at Baynanza’s Kickoff event on Saturday, April 11 and will receive four family passes to Vizcaya and a framed award

- Photograph should depict the beauty of the Biscayne Bay and its surrounding environment
- Photograph must be an original piece
- Photograph can be in full color or black and white
- Photograph must be a high-resolution digital image

- All entries must be received by the contest closing date of Friday, Dec. 5, 2025 and cannot simply be postmarked with this date.
- Submittal can include a caption describing the image or photograph’s inspiration.
- Entry emails must include the following information:

  - Photography must be submitted as a high-resolution JPEG image.
By submitting an entry to the contest, participants understand that entries might be used by Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and/or the Miami-Dade County Department of Environmental Resources Management (DERM) for promotional and marketing purposes, even if the images have not been selected among the top three entries.
