Safety Tips: Head & Facial Injuries on a Child
Toddlers are constantly on the move, and for the first year after they start walking, it may feel like every picture you take includes a bump, scrape or bruise. While falls become less frequent as they grow, they are still a normal part of childhood.
Most falls result in minor injuries that can be treated with hugs, kisses and a bandage. However, head injuries can be more complicated, especially for young children who may have trouble expressing how they feel. While it’s not practical to rush to the emergency room for every bump, it’s important to recognize the signs of a serious head injury so you can seek medical attention if needed.
