About Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis

Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis is a lifelong public servant, proud mother, and former Vice Mayor of the City of West Miami, now serving as the Miami-Dade County Commissioner for District 6.

Appointed on May 6, 2025, to fill the vacancy left by now-U.S. Ambassador Kevin Marino Cabrera, Commissioner Milian Orbis enters office with nearly two decades of hands-on experience across every major area of County government—from permitting and infrastructure to housing, public safety, and economic development. Her appointment followed broad community support, including endorsements from residents, every mayor within District 6, labor groups and elected officials at all levels.

She began her County career in 2006 and has served in key roles under multiple commissioners, building a deep understanding of how to navigate complex systems and deliver real results for residents. Known as a trusted problem-solver, she’s worked directly with neighbors, small businesses, and agencies to improve government responsiveness and accessibility.

As Vice Mayor of West Miami, she championed neighborhood quality of life, supported first responders through autism training and public safety investments, enhanced services for seniors, and launched youth civic engagement programs. She modernized the city’s permitting process, brought transparency to procurement, and authored the Private Property Peace Act to protect the rights and peace of homeowners. Under her leadership, West Miami also became one of the first certified Autism-Friendly cities in the region.

A longtime resident of District 6, Commissioner Milian Orbis lives in West Miami with her husband, Manuel, and their two children. She is committed to bringing the same results-driven, community-first leadership to every corner of the district.
