Created the County’s first Urban Forestry Plan that aims to help grow our tree canopy to 30% by 2030.
Planted 16,000+ trees and gave away 10,000+, prioritizing lower income neighborhoods with less than 20% canopy cover.
Trained 450+ volunteers, educators, and outreach workers through extreme weather and heat safety preparedness trainings.
Installed energy efficient AC units in ALL public housing units without it – about 1700.
Leading the way at MIA as the first airport in Florida to offer Sustainable Aviation Fuel, reducing emissions by 80%, undergoing a $547 million electrical infrastructure upgrade, including zero-emissions equipment, and advancing a $130 million project to install solar panels across the terminal roof by 2030.
Reducing emissions at PortMiami through shore power, allowing ships to plug into our power grid while docked, and investing in stormwater management and sustainable cargo handling.
Rallied participation of over 180 private buildings in the BE305 Challenge to cut energy and water use and costs.
Successfully proposed changes to the Florida Building Code to require cool roofs for low-slope commercial roofs in South Florida.
Completed 3,000+ total units of affordable housing with Green Building Certification.
Executed agreements for a 3.5-million-ton contracted capacity for the County’s Solid Waste Department, to ensure efficient rail transport of waste, enhance our waste management system and support sustainable practices.
Installed the County’s first three large-scale solar energy systems on County-owned buildings: North Dade Regional Library, Metrowest Detention Center, and Gibson Plaza.
Added 250+ electric vehicles to the County fleet, accelerating progress toward electrifying the entire fleet by 2030.
Ushered in one of the largest zero-emissions electric bus fleets among public transportation agencies in the country.
Awarded a $4.7 million grant to install approximately 390 public charging ports at public facilities throughout the County by 2027
