Boater Safety and Bay Education Task Force

In April 2025, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, in partnership with the Lucy Fernandez Foundation, launched a temporary Boater Safety and Bay Education Task Force to safeguard lives and protect our waterways. The eight-member group will provide expert guidance to enhance boating safety and public outreach across Biscayne Bay and beyond.

Charged with developing actionable recommendations to improve boater education, encourage responsible boating behavior, and explore effective policy, education, and enforcement measures, the Task Force will present its final report to the Mayor’s administration. All meetings are open to the public and documentation is fully accessible per Florida’s Sunshine Laws.
