About Human Rights and Fair Employment

The HRFEP Division promotes fairness and equal opportunity in employment, housing, public accommodations, credit and financing practices, family leave and domestic violence leave. Discrimination based on race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, sex, pregnancy, age, disability, marital status, familial status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, status as a victim of domestic violence of stalking, veteran status or source of income is prohibited.

Services are available to all Miami-Dade County citizens, Miami-Dade County government employees and applicants for employment with Miami-Dade County government. We work with all County departments, the County Attorney's Office, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and the Florida Commission on Human Relations, and serve as staff to the Miami-Dade Commission on Human Rights.

HRFEP office's hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. If you have a discrimination question or if you wish to file a complaint, please call the office at 305-375-2784. You may also write to the office at 111 NW 1 Street, 21st Floor, Miami FL 33128 or at [email protected]. While no appointment is needed to file a complaint in person, please contact the office prior to your visit to verify that HRFEP has jurisdiction over the matter. In an effort to provide better customer service, walk-ins will be assisted on a first come, first serve basis and must arrive at the office by 2 p.m. to be provided with same day assistance. Please let the office know beforehand if you need a reasonable accommodation, such as an interpreter, in order to file a complaint.
