ITD team created a food drive during holiday season

ITD team members preparing bags for food driveEvery holiday season, the Government Administration Systems team meets for lunch and share personal stories and ideas. However, this year the team wanted to do something different, like give back to the community and serve people in need by means of a food drive.

Serving the homeless is something most of us think about doing when we encounter someone living homelessness on the street. Should we give food? Should we give clothes? Should we give toiletries? When it comes to helping the homeless, some of these things are more helpful than others. The team shared their ideas, provided monetary contributions and bought food items and toiletries. When Information Technology Department Director Margaret Brisbane learned about the food drive, she extended her gratitude and gifted several food gift cards.

On the day of the homeless food drive, which took place Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, the team gathered at their OTV offices, along with Margaret Brisbane and John Bruno, to assemble over 100 homeless bags with food and care items. They drove to multiple homeless locations around downtown Miami to hand out bags and gift cards.

Every member of this team is appreciated for showing relentless efforts to making this food drive a great success. Special thanks to the following individuals for their efforts and kindness:

  • Gladys Feldmann for her skillful planning of this event
  • Bidar Narsing for his outstanding support
  • Ramesh Saripalli for his compassion and commitment
  • Daksha Raj for providing lunch for our gathering
  • Ramesh Yenumula for allowing his son to participate in the homeless drive and setting an example of the importance of giving
  • Luis Diaz for his generosity and support
  • Maria Corona for her passionate involvement
  • Henry Flores, Francisco Perez, William Santiago and Mari Malcom for their ideas and monetary contributions
  • John’s daughter, Amanda, for her active involvement with packing and distributing bags

Our team wholeheartedly thanks the ITD leadership team:
