All businesses and individuals that immobilize (boot) vehicles parked on private property must be registered with Miami-Dade County.
Private property lots must have signs at each exit indicating that the property is an immobilization zone.
Upon successful completion of the application process, each vehicle immobilization permit holder must prominently wear identification stating the full name of the business and permit holder on the front left side of the shirt at all times when performing vehicle immobilization work.
Any person(s) or corporation that operates a vehicle immobilization business in Miami-Dade County must fill out a permit and/or license, submitted and approved by Miami-Dade County by online, in person and by mail. Follow these instructions to apply online.
Renewal applicants can apply in person or by mail.For renewal of an existing license follow these instructions.
Applicants must complete a criminal background check and have their photo taken as part of the application process. Information regarding these requirements will be provided when the application is submitted.

If the application process is not completed within 60 days from the date that the application was filed with the Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources, the application will be considered abandoned and closed and a new application and fee will be required.
Change of ownership
In the event of a change in ownership of a vehicle immobilization business, a new application and fee is required.
If you are the owner of an immobilization business and have already submitted photographs and fingerprints in connection with obtaining your business application, you do not have to re-submit fingerprints and photographs yourself.

Changes in any material aspect of the vehicle immobilization business shall be provided to the Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources in writing along with proof of the change and the required fee, if replacement of the license is required, within 30 days of the change.

The fees are non-refundable. A late fee will apply to renewal applications submitted after the expiration of the current registration. The late fee is in addition to the renewal fee.
Checks or money orders should be made payable to Miami-Dade County / CP. Visa, Mastercard and American Express are accepted when applying online and in person.
