Celebrate American Heart Month at a Miami-Dade park near you

One of the most heavily recommended ways to promote heart health according to health officials is through physical activity. Miami-Dade County Parks is home to several walking and hiking trails available to the public in all zip codes across South Florida. You can find designated fitness zones at select parks, compromised of exercise equipment, making it easier for residents of all ages to include a fitness regimen in their daily routine to stem off heart disease, obesity and other ailments, as well to live an overall healthy lifestyle.
Our EcoAdventures division also offers several guided hiking tours for those looking to immerse themselves in an educational nature experience while engaging in the physical activity. There are also many alternative ways to get active at Miami-Dade Parks including kayaking, canoeing, and swimming across the county. We also host a wide variety of sports and wellness activities focused on fitness, nutrition and nature.
Not only does physical activity and spending time surrounded by nature benefit overall physical health, but it also has tremendous benefits on mental health and managing stress, some other key components in maintaining healthy heart functions. With proper outlets to unwind, relax, and destress, maintaining a healthy heart is achievable with the help of Miami-Dade Parks and Open Spaces in your community.
