Spay It Forward! free spay and neuter surgeries for cats and dogs

In recognition of World Spay Day on Feb. 24, Miami-Dade County Animal Services is thrilled to announce the launch of the 2026 Spay It Forward campaign. From Feb. 22 to Feb. 28, the campaign will provide free spay and neuter surgeries for cats and dogs, offering a vital service to the community. This annual initiative, in collaboration with the Street Cat Clinic, Bissell Pet Foundation, Miami Veterinary Foundation and ASPCA, aims to humanely control the local pet population and significantly reduce the number of unwanted litters.

The campaign also includes the Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return TNVR program for community cats. This program ensures that free-roaming cats are safely sterilized and vaccinated, contributing to the health and stability of our community’s feline population.

To participate in this opportunity, appointments are required and can be easily scheduled by calling 311. The free surgeries are available to all pets belonging to Miami-Dade County residents, empowering pet owners to take proactive measures before the spring mating season and promoting healthier, happier animals in our neighborhoods.

By preventing unwanted litters, Spay It Forward not only helps alleviate shelter overcrowding but also allows resources to be redirected towards adoption efforts, community outreach, and educational initiatives.
