Miami-Dade TV Policy

Programming on Miami-Dade TV and Miami-Dade TV On-Demand will serve primarily to:
  • identify, explain and promote the use of County services
  • provide direct, non-editorial information to residents of Miami-Dade County concerning the operations and deliberations of our government
  • encourage interaction between the County and the citizens of Miami-Dade County

Rules

  • Coverage of all Board meetings shall be from gavel to gavel, with no editing of content.
  • Miami-Dade TV in its discretion shall determine whether and in what manner to fulfill requests for coverage or production services prior to taping.
  • Miami-Dade TV reserves the right to all footage.
  • Miami-Dade TV is required by County ordinance to
  • Air live coverage of all meetings of the Board of County Commissioners.
  • Webcast and archive all meetings of the Board of County Commissioners and its committees.
  • Re-broadcast all meetings of the Board of County Commissioners the same evening they occur, as well as the weekend after they take place.
  • Air Miami-Dade Police Department’s Sexual Predators Display and Most Wanted Suspects Display.
  • Provide year-round programming updating success stories of the Mom & Pop Grant Program.
  • Provide equal opportunities for appearances on Miami-Dade TV to County Commissioners.
  • Air Florida News Channel programming relevant to the citizens of Miami-Dade County.

In addition, Miami-Dade TV
  • Provides duplicates of its original programming, meetings of the Board of County Commissioners, and various County meetings recorded into the public record.
  • Records daily newscasts from local television stations relating to the County. These daily recordings are available to County departments, administration and elected officials at a fee.

Sponsorship

Promotional or Sponsorship announcements for County-sponsored events are permitted provided that the Board of County Commissioners has approved the use of Miami-Dade TV for that purpose, authorized funding and approved the program. These announcements shall be limited to character titles and/or an announcement, both to be placed at the close of that program.

Miami-Dade TV does not

  • air public or educational programming
  • host local origination programming
  • provide audio/visual (A/V) support for presentations. For A/V support within the Stephen P. Clark Center, please contact Internal Services at 305-375-2616
  • cover potentially political events or campaigns relating to an election
  • release raw video in any form
Additionally, Miami-Dade TV does not present any material
  • that advertises or promotes the sale of any commercial product or services offered
  • concerning a lottery, gift enterprise or similar promotion offering prizes based in whole or part upon lot or chance.
  • that directly solicits funds for any reason
  • which violates any local, state or federal law.
  • which promotes religious beliefs or religious philosophies.
Miami-Dade TV / Miami-Dade TV On-Demand is not intended as a mechanism for building support for a policy, program, issue, party, or individual. Candidates who have announced and/or qualified for election or re-election to any elective office shall not be permitted to make individual statements via any of Miami-Dade TV's information channels.  At all times, current term elected officials may participate in Miami-Dade TV programming only as it relates to the performance of their official duties.
