Hosting more than 36 shows a year, the Ronald Reagan Equestrian Center is where registered Arabians, Hunter/Jumpers, Western style, Paso Finos and other breeds come to strut their stuff and pick up valuable show ribbons and trophies.
The beauty, grace and courage of a horse show is complimented by the stately center. It also has two grass courses, plus seating for approximately 1,000 persons. At the heart of the Ronald Reagan Equestrian center is a promenade and three state-of-the-art show arenas covered by a 200-foot by 275-foot standing steel roof.
A full-service equestrian facility, Tropical Park has 267 stalls available for rent to competitors, recreational vehicle hookups, restroom facilities and concession stands.
Temporary horse stall rentals are available during non-event days and non-hurricane alerts. The center has 9 1/2-inch by 11 1/2-inch CBS block stalls available for rent, at $15.00 a day per stall. Stalls are available for horses and ponies only; no more than one horse per stall and no more than two ponies per stall.
The stalls are to be used for boarding of healthy horses only. Before a horse can be brought into the center, onsite staff needs to review an original “Coggins” documentation showing negative test results for Equine Encephalitis or a current Health Certificate.
The center also hosts full-size rodeos, bringing in portable bleachers for up to 3,000 spectators. The center is also available to rent for special events such as concerts, dog shows, corporate picnics, festivals, film productions, weddings, CrossFit and more.
The Equestrian Center office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information or reservations, call 305-226-8315, ext. 5, or email [email protected].
Mary Abreu Community Center
The Mary Abreu Community Center is a facility uniquely located to serve the cattle and equestrian industry. It is the perfect location for conventions, seminars, workshops and meetings for members of beef and dairy cattle associations as well as equestrian associations.
The Abreu Center has 4,320 square feet of meeting space, seats up to 250 people and has a small kitchen (no stove), an outdoor grilling area, restrooms and parking. Podiums, stages, sound systems and assorted meeting equipment are available for rental. The Abreu Center is WiFi-equipped and can be used for internet sales of cattle and horse stock and genetic material.
Complementing the Abreu Center is the Ronald Reagan Equestrian Center. As a trio, the rings will create 150,000-square-feet of exhibit, competition and performance-ready arenas under 3.6 acres of covered roof.
The improvements in 2013 have complemented the site's existing amenities, including its grand promenade, spectator seating, 267 stalls, recreational vehicle hookups, restrooms and concession area. Since construction was completed, larger events have been accommodated; this has increased the attractiveness of the Ronald Reagan Equestrian Center and Abreu Center for use by cattle and equestrian organizations and enthusiasts.
