Miami-Dade County to Celebrate opening of Li’l Abner II in Sweetwater

Miami-Dade County continues to address the affordability crisis by adding more units
of housing that our seniors can afford. The opening of Li’l Abner II in Sweetwater
includes 244 brand new affordable housing units for local seniors.

units of housing that our seniors can afford. The opening of Li’l Abner II in
Sweetwater includes 244 brand new affordable housing units for local seniors.</p>
<p>Units at Li’l Abner II are reserved for seniors making up to 60 percent of
the area’s median income. This means that individual seniors earning less
than $40,980 or couples earning less than $46,800 can qualify to live there.</p>
<p>This 8-story building has 106 one-bedroom units and 138 two-bedroom units with
new appliances and modern finishes.</p>

and Community Development (HCD) serves as the County’s official Public Housing
Agency (PHA) and Community Development (CD) office. As the County’s housing

and operation of housing and community development programs that support residents
across Miami-Dade County.</span></span><span class="EOP SCXW63546320 BCX8" data-ccp-props="{}"> </span></p>
<p><span data-contrast="auto">In our role as the PHA, HCD manages approximately 6,500
public housing units and provides rental assistance to more than 19,000
households through the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program, commonly known as Section
8. In addition, the Department owns and operates more than 1,700 non-public
housing units throughout the County, expanding access to affordable housing options
beyond traditional public housing.</span><span data-ccp-props="{}"> </span></p>
<p><span data-contrast="auto">Our housing portfolio also includes assisted living
facilities for elderly residents, ensuring seniors have access to safe, supportive
environments, as well as self-sufficiency programs designed to help residents build
