Miami-Dade County to host resource fair for National Crime Victims’ Rights Week on April 28
Miami, FL - In commemoration of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week and National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD) and the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, two community agencies committed to supporting and advocating for victims of crime, will host a Resource Fair on Friday, April 28.
The resource fair will be held at the Stephen P. Clark Center, 111 NW First Street, Miami, FL 33128, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will showcase community agencies that provide services and resources for victims of crime, including counseling, legal assistance, victim’ compensation, and other victim services. The event will also provide an opportunity for victims to connect with local law enforcement and victim service providers to learn about their rights and options for seeking justice.
“As a social worker, I understand first hand how much direct support and services can positively impact victims of crime,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “This resource fair is just one of the many life-changing services that Miami-Dade County offers our community, coupled with our groundbreaking Peace and Prosperity plan. I am so grateful for the good work that our teams and partners are doing to support victims of crime.”
National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is an annual observance designed to raise awareness about the impact of crime on individuals, families, and communities, and to promote the rights and needs of victims. This year’s theme is Elevate. Engage. Effect Change.
“There is no better time than now to host this Resource Fair for victims of crime as part of Miami-Dade County’s efforts to effect positive change in our community,” said Ivon Mesa, CAHSD’s Assistant Director. “We know that the effects of crime can be devastating and long-lasting, and we are committed to providing victims with the support they need to heal and move forward. This event will provide a one-stop-shop for victims to access the resources and services they need to begin the healing process.”
The Resource Fair is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to visit our website www.miamidade.gov/socialservices for victim support services.
