Miami-Dade County to break ground on the third and final phase of The Underline project
Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW), Friends of The Underline, along with elected officials and project stakeholders will celebrate the groundbreaking of the third and final phase of The Underline project.
The Underline will be a 10-mile linear mobility corridor along the Metrorail and will transform 120 acres of County-owned land below the existing Metrorail guideway from the Miami River (Downtown) to the Dadeland South Metrorail Station into a first-class multimodal corridor.
Phase 3 of The Underline is a 7.36-mile segment that connects from SW 19th Ave near the Vizcaya Metrorail station to the Dadeland South Metrorail station. The entire segment links numerous diverse communities including City of Miami, Coral Gables, South Miami, and Unincorporated Miami-Dade County. Once finished, this phase will provide separated pedestrian and bicycle paths, improvements to over 30 intersections, access to public transportation, public Wi-Fi, enhanced lighting, and wayfinding.
The Underline corridor will improve both pedestrian and bicyclist safety while also enhancing connectivity and access to eight Metrorail stations along the path.
