Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava to hold press conference on 2024 hurricane season and extreme weather
Today, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and members of the Board of County Commissioners will hold a press conference to discuss the start of the 2024 hurricane season on June 1st. The press conference will also address the importance of staying vigilant to ensure our community is prepared for extreme heat and potential flooding, as May 1st marked the official start of heat season and May 15th was the start of rainy season.
Together with Miami-Dade's Department of Emergency Management, the Office of Resilience and the National Weather Service, the speakers will provide tips and helpful information for the community and remind residents about the importance of being prepared for extreme weather and getting their homes and families prepared early – before a storm threatens Miami-Dade.
