June 2024 Departmental Award
The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) is pleased to announce that the Kendall District, Multi-Agency Marine Theft Task Force, has been selected as Unit of the Month for June 2024.
The Multi-Agency Marine Theft Task Force (MAMTTF) is the only multi-agency task force in South Florida responsible for investigating individuals, organized crime groups, businesses, and other complex criminal and racketeering enterprises involved in crimes related to the theft and distribution of stolen marine vessels, and marine related equipment. The MAMTTF is established with several municipalities, adjacent counties, state, and federal agencies such as the Broward, Palm Beach, Monroe, and Martin County Sheriff’s Offices, and the Homestead and Miami Beach Police Departments, the United States Coast Guard, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Homeland Security Investigations. The unit also provides investigative assistance to other law enforcement agencies in the event they require investigative assistance, as it relates to marine related thefts. It is the responsibility of the MAMTTF to initiate proactive and reactive investigations into crimes related to the theft and distribution of stolen marine vessels, and marine related equipment.
Multi-Agency Marine Theft Task Force
From January 2023 to date, the MAMTTF has conducted numerous investigations and proactive details to include surveillances, undercover operations, ship inspections, grid searches, and marina details. These have resulted in the execution of 24 search warrants, 101 arrests, 115 apprehensions, and recovered property valued at $2,534,500. Additionally, the obtained valuable intelligence on numerous cases led by local, state, and federal investigative partners as part of the MAMTTF. The MAMTTF has displayed a high level of investigative acumen and continues to deliver excellence to the community. They are a credit to the Department and the community they so proudly serve.
