Miami-Dade County to break ground on Quail Roost Station, a new phase of transit-oriented affordable housing for older adults
On Wednesday, August 14, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Miami-Dade County District 9 Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee will break ground on the next phase of Quail Roost Station, a new affordable housing development for older adults that will provide direct access to public transportation. The first phase of this development is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, with a third phase starting in 2025. This second phase will be part of a six-phase revival effort to enhance the entire community.
This new phase will include 124 units dedicated for older adults, comprised of 36 studios, 72 one-bedroom units, and 16 two-bedroom units. These affordable units will consist of 20 units set aside at or below 30% of the Area Median Income (AMI), 44 units at or below 60% of the AMI, and 60 units at or below 70% of the AMI. Phase One started in 2020 with 200 units.
Amenities will include a community room, business center, fitness center, and onsite laundry facilities. Adult literacy classes, employment assistance, and financial management program classes will also be offered to residents.
Miami-Dade County awarded Quail Roost Station a $4.96 million grant from Surtax funding.
