Arrest made in case of man seen kicking dog in viral social media video
Detectives from the Miami Dade Police Department's Intracoastal District have arrested a man seen in a viral social media video kicking a small dog twice, for the criminal charge of animal cruelty.
On August 19th, 2024, Intracoastal District detectives were contacted by Miami Dade County Animal Services investigators who advised that they received a report of an alleged animal cruelty incident that was captured on a residential doorbell camera. In the video, a male wearing a t-shirt advertising a "mobile pet grooming" business is seen kicking a small white dog twice in the head and neck before walking out of view of camera with the dog in tow. Through investigative means detectives located the owner of the mobile pet grooming company who advised that he immediately terminated the employee depicted in the video, and that he would fully cooperate with the investigation. With the help of the business owner, the subject turned himself in to detectives on August 21, 2024. The subject, Richel Yumar-Gonzalez made a full confession, and took responsibility for the incident.
Mr. Yumar-Gonzalez was arrested and charged accordingly. The dog depicted in the video was observed and treated by a veterinarian who advised that the animal received no great bodily injury as a result of the incident.
