The developers, Cornerstone Group, have partnered with the Martin Memorial AME Church, also known as the Purple Church. The church has owned the property for many years and has sought to develop affordable housing on-site. On Friday, September 13, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Office of Miami-Dade County District 9 Commissioner Kionne McGhee will break ground on Royal Pointe Apartments, a new affordable housing development for families. The developers, Cornerstone Group, have partnered with the Martin Memorial AME Church, also known as the Purple Church. The church has owned the property for many years and has sought to develop affordable housing on-site. Royal Pointe Apartments will feature 102 affordable units in a garden-style layout with up to three floors and one to three bedrooms per unit. Apartments will be available for income-qualifying residents; 17 units at 30% of the area median income (AMI), 38 units at 60% AMI, and 47 units at 70% AMI. Amenities will include a gated community, a clubhouse with a business center and a social room for meetings and celebrations, a children’s playground, and a fitness center. Miami-Dade County funding for Royal Pointe Apartments totals $10,519,000, including $4,399,000 from Surtax, $510,000 from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund, and $2,860,000 from the HOME Program.
