Miami-Dade County celebrates Welcoming Day and Citizenship Week with Resource Fair for immigrants
The Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department’s Office of New Americans (ONA) is excited to announce the Welcoming Day Celebration, set to take place on September 18, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Miami Dade County Public Library Miami Downtown, 101 W Flagler St, Miami FL 33130. This event is dedicated to celebrating and recognizing the invaluable contributions of immigrant cultures to our vibrant Miami community.
The day will feature welcoming remarks at 11:00 a.m. by Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Commissioner Marleine Bastein, and Commissioner Keon Hardemon. The resource fair will have over 20 organizations providing essential services to the immigrant community. Attendees will have access to free healthcare services, including health screenings and consultations. Legal assistance will be available to address immigration and legal matters. Additionally, there will be opportunities to learn how to start a business.
The Welcoming Day celebration will showcase inspiring stories from community members who have made significant impacts through their resilience and achievements. Attendees will also enjoy a variety of cultural performances, highlighting the rich and diverse heritage of our community. ONA leads, supports, and manages a range of programs that increase access to legal services, integration, and empowerment for Miami-Dade's immigrant communities.
We invite all members of the community to join us in celebrating the cultural richness that immigrants bring to Miami. This event promises to be a meaningful and engaging experience for all who attend. For more information or to confirm your attendance, please contact our office (305)636-1010.
