Joint announcement from Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works and The Underline
Eulois Cleckley, the Director of the Miami-Dade Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW), has accepted a new role as the Chief Executive Officer for Friends of The Underline. Meg Daly, who founded The Underline and has served as CEO of the Friends of the Underline and Chair of the Board of Directors since 2013, will continue to provide key leadership to the organization as Chair of the Board and The Underline Conservancy.
“Miami-Dade County is committed to making our community more accessible, connected, and livable for all our residents, and The Underline is an important partner in these efforts through their work to transform the underused space beneath the Metrorail into a multimodal corridor and community space,” said Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “We are grateful for Eulois’s service as DTPW Director since August 2021, and we look forward to continuing to work alongside The Underline to enhance and expand mobility in Miami-Dade.”
“Eulois is a nationally recognized leader in transportation and mobility and has raised funds for large-scale transportation projects for over 20 years,” said Meg Daly, Friends of The Underline Founder. “His expertise, locally and nationally, further fortifies our vision to create a multimodal future for Miami. Eulois’s overarching goal will be to achieve or exceed our annual fundraising goals to sustain Friends of The Underline and ensure The Underline continues to build community, connectivity and resiliency. To optimize our efforts and impact, he will work alongside me as Board Chair and Conservancy President and COO Patrice Gillespie Smith.”
Eulois has served as Director and CEO of DTPW since August 2021, overseeing the 15th largest public transit system in the country and the largest transit agency in the State of Florida. During his tenure the Department made major strides to accelerate progress developing key transit corridors under the SMART Program; secured millions of federal and state dollars for transportation and infrastructure projects; delivered Transit-Oriented Development projects; and more.
Eulois will be introduced as the Friends of The Underline CEO during the organization's Sneaker Ball this Saturday, September 28, and will be leaving his position as DTPW Director in November 2024. The administration is currently working to identify a new Director.
