Miami-Dade County celebrates National Weatherization Day to promote energy efficiency

Miami-Dade County’s Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD) is pleased to celebrate National Weatherization Day on October 30, 2024. This national event brings attention to the crucial role of weatherization in reducing energy use, lowering utility bills, and improving the comfort and safety of homes. To mark the occasion, CAHSD will showcase the weatherization efforts at a home located at 9568 NW 24th Ave, Miami, FL 33147. 

Weatherization is essential for creating energy-efficient homes that help residents save money while reducing environmental impact. National Weatherization Day showcases the importance of these efforts in building more sustainable and resilient communities.

CAHSD’s Energy, Facilities, and Transportation Division leads the county’s Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), which focuses on supporting households facing higher energy costs. This year’s featured home will receive a variety of energy-saving upgrades including:  smoke detectors,  co-detector,  bathroom fan,  microwave exhaust fan,  aeroters,  shower heads, CFLs bulbs,  air filters,  W/H pipe insulations, windows repairs, solar films, BLATT bloking insulation and foam type, full louver door at A/H closet, energy recovery ventilator, r A/C replacement, and  A/C thermostat.

The Energy, Facilities, and Transportation Division has been at the forefront of implementing these energy-saving measures, helping to reduce the burden of our community members while contributing to Miami-Dade’s sustainability goals.
