Miami-Dade Parks to host annual MLK Day of Service
The Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department invites the community
to participate in the annual MLK Day of Service on Saturday, January 18,2025, from
9 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the General Serafin Sanchez Park (formerly Blue Lakes Park), located
at 4225 SW 92 Avenue, Miami, FL 33165.
<p>The Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department invites the community
to participate in the annual MLK Day of Service on Saturday, January 18,2025, from
9 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the General Serafin Sanchez Park (formerly Blue Lakes Park), located
at 4225 SW 92 Avenue, Miami, FL 33165. This impactful volunteer event will honor the
life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by bringing together community members
to engage in beautification efforts, including planting native shrubs, mulching, and
park cleanup. Volunteers will be contributing to Dr. King's vision of a "beloved community"
and making a positive, lasting impact on the environment and local parks. </p>
<p>The MLK Day of Service is organized in partnership with UF/IFAS and Keep Miami-Dade
County Beautiful, bringing together local agencies and residents to create a better,
more vibrant community. </p>

<p>We create outstanding recreational, natural and cultural experiences to enrich
you and enhance the quality of life for our community for this and future generations.</p>
<p>We build memorable experiences and communities through well-designed parks and
open spaces that are efficient, accessible, engaging and aesthetically pleasing, guided
by our Parks Open Space Master Plan.</p>
<p>We offer year-round park and recreation programs for local children, adults and
people with disabilities. Camps are held in the spring and summer during public school
breaks. After-school activities are focused on fitness, nutrition and wellness, and
developing an appreciation of nature, science and the cultural arts.</p>
<p>We also maintain the median strips, road shoulders and causeways for County roadways,
busways, Metrorail and Metromover.</p>
