Samantha Choon [email protected] 305-471-1900 Public Safety Telecommunicator Training Academy Graduation The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Communications Bureau is proud to present the latest graduates of the esteemed Public Safety Telecommunicator (PST) Training Academy. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Communications Bureau is proud to present the latest graduates of the esteemed Public Safety Telecommunicator (PST) Training Academy.  Seven (7) Police Complaint Officers and four (4) Police Dispatchers are receiving their completion certificate for 16-weeks of intense academic learning.  The class participants were educated on the following topics: Florida Department of Health PST Certification mandated curriculum, Emergency Medical Dispatch protocol, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation instructions, Miami-Dade County geography, and departmental policy. Police Complaint Officers receive the steady flow of 911 calls, which culminate to approximately 2.2 million calls per year.  Police Dispatchers must be prepared to handle all communications received via the radio. On average, radio traffic totals 51 million transmissions per year.  In recognition of our fast-paced environment, the PST Academy prepares our newest Police Compliant Officers and Police Dispatchers to handle any emergency or request for service and assist the public with their safety needs.
