Zoo Miami to celebrate the grand opening of “Wild Connection”, new state-of-the-art habitats
The Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department and Zoo Miami are proud to announce the grand opening of “Wild Connection: Home of Our Animal Ambassadors,” located adjacent to the Sami Family Amphitheater. Join us on Friday, April 25 at 10 a.m. for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating a transformative renovation that introduces state-of-the-art habitats for extraordinary wildlife including cheetahs, giant anteaters, and serval cats.
This reimagined space features two publicly visible habitats designed to promote animal wellness, flexibility, and enrichment. For the first time, guests can enjoy all-day views of animal ambassadors such as pythons, long-legged seriemas, and vultures—well beyond scheduled presentations. These enhancements reflect Zoo Miami’s mission to inspire and educate through meaningful connections with wildlife, while also advancing conservation and animal care.
Visitors will enter the habitat area through a sculpted fallen tree that blends beautifully into the environment. Inside, a man-made tree stump with glass viewing windows offers a unique, up-close perspective of these captivating animals.
Guests will also have the opportunity to meet the animals and their caretakers and learn more about the vision behind “Wild Connection.”
