Arrests Made in Naranja Homicide
MIAMI-DADE ( May 22, 2025 )–
On Friday, February 7, 2025, at approximately 11:55 p.m., Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) deputies responded to the area of 13842 SW 266th Street in regard to shots being fired in the area. MDSO deputies were then notified that an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds had been transported by bystanders to a local hospital. The victim, Mr. Rae'quan Smith, despite lifesaving efforts, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Through investigative means, Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) Homicide Bureau detectives were able to determine that on the night of the homicide, Mr. Elton Hightower and Ms. Deashia Smith discharged firearms in the direction of Mr. Smith, and that Ms. Smith was in possession of a firearm that was utilized in the homicide.
On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, MDSO Homicide Bureau detectives arrested Mr. Hightower and Ms. Smith in connection with the homicide of Mr. Rae'quan Smith.
