Protect Biscayne Bay Specialty License Plates now available for pickup across Florida
Miami-Dade County is proud to announce that the highly anticipated Protect Biscayne Bay specialty license plate is now available for pickup at Tax Collector’s offices and Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) locations across Florida.
The license plate, created to raise critical funds for the restoration and protection of Biscayne Bay, reached the 3,000 pre-sale voucher requirement earlier this year and has officially completed production.
"Biscayne Bay is one of our most precious natural treasures and a cornerstone of Miami-Dade's environment, economy, and way of life,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “The launch of the Protect Biscayne Bay specialty license plate is a meaningful step forward in our collective mission to restore and safeguard the Bay for future generations. I’m grateful to the many partners and residents who helped make this initiative a reality—and proud that Miami-Dade is once again leading the way in environmental protection and community action.”
A portion of proceeds from license plate sales will directly support the Biscayne Bay Recovery Fund, managed by The Miami Foundation. This fund provides critical resources to local nonprofit organizations working on the frontlines to protect and restore Biscayne Bay.
“The response to the Protect Biscayne Bay license plate is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together for a shared purpose,” said Rebecca Fishman Lipsey, President & CEO of The Miami Foundation. “This is more than a license plate—it’s a community-wide commitment to protecting our Bay for future generations. We’re honored to steward the Biscayne Bay Recovery Fund, and thanks to generous champions like the Brady Hunter Foundation, we now have a permanent source of funding to ensure that every dollar generated from the plates supports the nonprofits leading the charge to restore and preserve this vital ecosystem.”
This milestone was made possible through the leadership of Senator Ileana Garcia, former Representative Nick Duran, and the support of The Brady Hunter Foundation, the Miami-Dade County Office of the Tax Collector, and numerous nonprofits and community partners, residents, and advocates across Florida.
