Miami-Dade County and Miami EdTech nominated for "Collaboration of the Year" at South Florida Tech Hub Golden Palms Awards
Miami-Dade County’s Department of Community Action and Human Services (CAHSD), in partnership with Miami EdTech, is proud to announce its nomination for Collaboration of the Year at the 2025 Golden Palms Awards, hosted by the South Florida Tech Hub. The recognition honors their joint work on Workforce.Miami, an innovative initiative designed to connect residents with high-quality training, resources, and career opportunities in the region’s fast-growing tech and innovation economy.
Originally launched under the Office of Innovation and Economic Development - an office created by Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava to spark bold solutions for Miami-Dade’s future - Workforce.Miami was transitioned to CAHSD earlier this year to ensure that the platform continues to expand access and opportunity for residents countywide. The nomination highlights the unique collaboration between government and nonprofit partners to deliver a “No Wrong Door” approach to workforce development and economic mobility.
“When we created the Office of Innovation and Economic Development, our goal was to build new pathways for residents to succeed in the jobs of tomorrow,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “Workforce.Miami is the realization of that vision — bringing together government, nonprofit, and industry partners to ensure that every resident has the chance to participate in and benefit from our growing innovation economy.”
“This nomination is a testament to what’s possible when community partners come together with a shared vision,” said William Porro, Assistant Director of Community Action and Human Services. “Workforce.Miami represents the future of workforce development — accessible, equitable, and aligned with the needs of both job seekers and employers.”
“At Miami EdTech, our mission has always been to equip educators, students, and job seekers with the skills needed to thrive in today’s digital economy,” said Carlos Vazquez, President of Miami EdTech. “Workforce.Miami is the embodiment of that mission, and this recognition underscores the importance of building strong partnerships to uplift our community.”
The Collaboration of the Year Award recognizes partnerships that break down silos, leverage cross-sector strengths, and deliver measurable impact for South Florida communities. Miami-Dade County and Miami EdTech are nominated alongside:
• AI Salon Miami + ManaTech
• City Furniture + React Miami
• Owwll, Media Components, Cindy
• Amazon Connect + AWS + City of Tamarac + City of Miami Beach
• University of Florida C3 + Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance + Abe.Work + City Furniture + Wahoo Bay
Winners will be announced during the Golden Palms Awards Ceremony on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 7:30 PM at the Funky Buddha Brewery in Fort Lauderdale.
