Miami-Dade County celebrates Grand Opening of Edison Towers, a newly rehabilitated senior affordable housing community in Liberty City
On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Miami-Dade County District 3 Commissioner Keon Hardemon will join Florida House of Representatives Ashley Gantt and City of Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, to celebrate the newly rehabilitated senior housing community in Liberty City.
Edison Towers represents a milestone in advancing quality, affordable housing for seniors, converting Tacolcy Economic Development Corporation’s (TEDc) first Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) family property into a thriving residential community for residents 62 and older. The development includes 115 units—extremely low, very low, and low-income apartments—designed to preserve housing for prior residents while addressing the growing need for senior housing in Liberty City.
Each apartment is thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of older adults, with tailored on-site services, weekly activities, and amenities that foster social connection and active living. The development preserves affordable housing in the neighborhood, offering a safe and supportive community for seniors. Plans are also underway for Edison Towers Phase II, which will add 96 additional senior units.
This project was made possible with $1,701,859 in Documentary Stamp Surtax funds and $375,000 from the HOME Investment Partnerships Program, provided by Miami-Dade County in partnership with private funders, the Florida Housing Finance Corporation, the Miami Housing Finance Authority, and TEDc.
