Body Found in Canal Identified as Missing Woman
On Sunday, September 14, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) deputies responded to the area of NW 72 Avenue and NW 58 Street regarding a missing person.
MDSO Missing Persons Unit detectives arrived on scene and conducted an area canvass but were met with negative results.
The next morning, MDSO detectives returned to the area to conduct a follow up investigation. MDSO detectives observed what appeared to be a body floating in the canal, and MDSO divers responded and retrieved the body.
Further investigation revealed that multiple individuals occupying a vehicle were involved in an accident at NW 74 Avenue and NW 58 Street. One of the occupants exited to check on the driver of the other vehicle. The remaining passengers fled the scene of the crash in the vehicle.
Soon after, the same vehicle was involved in a second crash on the Northbound ramp of SR 826 at NW 58 Street. The occupants abandoned the vehicle, fled on foot, and arranged to be picked up by a friend who was riding a motorcycle.
A short time later, the motorcycle was involved in an accident at NW 72 Avenue and NW 58 Street, in which all four occupants were ejected. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) responded and transported a male and two females in critical condition to a local hospital. The fourth passenger of the motorcycle, who was the reported missing person found deceased, was identified as 18-year-old Ms. Angelina Plasencia.
MDSO Traffic Homicide detectives have assumed the investigation.
The investigation continues.
