Busted: MDSO Arrests Rim and Tire Thieves
From September 26, 2025, through October 16, 2025, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) received more than twenty-five reports involving the theft of vehicle rims and tires. These incidents occurred across multiple MDSO districts, including the Midwest, Hammocks, Kendall, and Northwest Districts.
Through investigative efforts, detectives identified a consistent modus operandi. Surveillance operations ultimately led to the identification of three primary suspects connected to the thefts.
On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, investigators from the Midwest District, with the assistance of MDSO’s Special Response Team (SRT), executed a search warrant at the suspects’ residence. All three suspects were located inside and taken into custody without incident. A fourth individual, who was involved in dealing the stolen property, was also taken into custody. During the search, detectives recovered numerous sets of rims and tires linked to the reported thefts, as well as tools commonly used to remove rims and tires from vehicles.
This multi-district investigation resulted in the successful resolution of four cases in the Midwest District, nine in the Hammocks District, two in the Kendall District, and five in the Northwest District.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office remains committed to protecting residents’ property and dismantling organized theft operations across the county.
