Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins Launches Thanksgiving Turkey Drive to Support Local Families

Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins is proud to announce the District 8 Thanksgiving Turkey Drive, taking place on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the South Dade Government Center, Parking Lot E (10710 SW 211 St, Cutler Bay, FL 33189).

This annual event brings the community together to ensure that families in need can enjoy a warm, joyful Thanksgiving meal. Meals will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and residents are encouraged to arrive early.

“Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude, compassion, and community,” said Commissioner Cohen Higgins. “Through our Thanksgiving Turkey Drive, we’re not only providing meals, we’re sharing hope and reminding families that they are not alone.”

With the recent federal government shutdown, many residents who rely on SNAP benefits may face delays or interruptions in assistance. More now than ever, events like this Thanksgiving Turkey Drive are critical to helping families put food on the table during the holiday season.
